A Letter from Exectutive Director, Rich SmithDear Friends of Family Pathways,
I consider myself to be a very fortunate person. I grew up in St. Paul with one brother. We both were adopted as young children and raised by loving parents who instilled in us the idea that there is no higher calling than to be of service to others. My brother continues to live in St. Paul, in the house we grew up in, and has dedicated his career to law enforcement, currently serving as the Chief of Police for St. Paul. I live in Lino Lakes with my wife Ann – we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary this year. We have 2 children in college and we could not be more proud of them.
I am reminded again of how fortunate I am as I become more familiar with Family Pathways. This organization, under the strong leadership of Steve Martin, has grown aggressively over the past few years, effectively rising to address those increasing hardships. Family Pathways has also been managed with excellence, achieving the Minnesota Charities Review Council’s highest rating. An additional testament to this excellence is the breadth of community support from donors and volunteers. The organization is well positioned to continue its mission. I ask for your help as we go forward building stronger communities, one person at a time. Thank you. My Best regards, |

Professionally I have spent the majority of my career in service through non-profits, first as a social worker and most recently in senior leadership with Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. In addition to valuing service, I also strongly believe that non-profits need to be very, very good at what they are doing, from the provision of service to the operation of the business. Especially in these days of diminishing resources and increasing hardships in our communities, we need to constantly strive for excellence in our work and in our management of our resources.
