Darlene and Albert, both in their 90’s, look forward to their monthly trip to their local Family Pathways Food Shelf. It’s a difficult trip to make due to physical disabilities and Arthur being in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Then, at one visit, Darlene learned of the support she could receive through the Caregiver Respite program and Memory Café.
At their next month’s food appointment, as soon as they walked through the doors, Darlene—with tears in her eyes—hugged the Food Shelf Coordinator.
“Before, the food shelf was the only place Albert and I went outside the house because of how unpredictable Albert’s moods are. This was the only place we felt welcome. Going to the Memory Café was life-changing. Albert was himself again. Not only did we connect with others like us, but we connected with each other again. I can’t thank you enough for giving me my Albie back.”
Your support of Family Pathways Food Shelves reaches farther than you know. This March, help us re-stock the shelves with food donations and financial support that makes our food shelves a place where people like Darlene and Albert can go to not only get sustenance for their body, but for their mind and soul as well. Thank you for donating today!
