Where Can I Volunteer?

Family Pathways Program Offices and Store Locations

Thrift Store Volunteers Help Run Successful Stores That Generate Vital Revenue for Family Pathways Programs

"Volunteering at the thrift store is one of my favorite things to do!" says Jerry of his experience a Family Pathways Thrift Stores. Like dozens of Family Pathways’ volunteers who work in the stores each week, Jerry's day is never the same. Sometimes he welcomes people who come in to donate items; sometimes he sorts through antiques; sometimes he arranges items out on the store shelves. "I love watching little kids find a treasure. I also love being able to find a few of my own at the same time."

As a volunteer at the thrift store, you may assist on the sales floor, sort and price merchandise, organize shelves, receive donations or sort jewelry. And there’s much more. The jobs are limitless! Stores can also accommodate your church, school and civic groups. We are always excited to see you!

Youth Program Volunteers Give Teens the Support They Need to Grow into Well Adjusted Adults

Family Pathways' Youth Program helps teens to develop the skills and abilities necessary to become healthy, economically-independent adults. As a volunteer, you can offer a listening ear, compassion, a willingness to share skills and experiences - all things valuable to mentoring and supporting youth. Volunteer at any of our Teen Centers - North Branch, Forest Lake, or Princeton and help with homework, teach or help with crafts or cooking, play games or just talk. Whether you have an hour a week, a month or just a day, the youth in your community will benefit from your time. You can make a huge difference in the life of a young person.

Aging Services Volunteers Help Keep Older Adults in Their Homes and Keep Them from Being Isolated

Improve the quality of life for an older adult and their caregiver by being an occasional driver, companion or activities volunteer. You can take older adults to medical appointments, visit one-on-one in their homes, bake cookies, go grocery shopping, play cards or help open mail. If you like to help with occasional chores around the house, we’ve got a spot for you as well. Volunteers are not asked to perform personal care tasks. If you like being social, volunteers with our Adult Day Break programs in Braham, Rush City, Dalbo, Pine City and Lindstrom help our clients have fun by giving them focused attention and a friendly experience.

Hunger Relief Volunteers Feed Individuals and Families

You can be the missing link in providing friendly, confidential assistance to those who are often shy about asking for help. Family Pathways’ Food Shelves help to provide individuals and families what they need to regain their footing when the road gets rocky. Greet and assist clients, pack food, stock shelves, help with data entry and provide confidential telephone follow-up services. If you have a group of friends, civic organization or a church looking to volunteer, we’ve got opportunities behind the scenes, on off hours and with our mobile food truck deliveries.

"People ask me all the time why I volunteer at the food shelf. I am retired; I need something to do and it’s a way for me to help others – it’s a win/win situation. I can work a 3 hour shift and still enjoy my retirement. Young families that come in for assistance also need a smile and a little reassurance from an older person. I like those smiles in return. The sharing and learning goes both ways." -- Joe, Food Shelf Volunteer

Refuge Network (Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services) Volunteers Help Keep People Safe

You can fight domestic violence and sexual assault by staffing our crisis hotline, providing office assistance, keeping a child company while their parents attend meetings or receive training. You can also make a significant impact by doing what you love – gardening, hosting a birthday party, sharing a craft or skill, and preparing activities for kids and/or mothers. You can speak volumes by volunteering to help women and families escaping domestic violence.

Event Volunteers Raise Necessary Funds Through Fun and One-Time Fundraisers

Play a key role in sustaining the work of Family Pathways as a short-term volunteer. Do you like the planning stages of an event? Maybe you’d like to be out and about talking to businesses about auction items. Are you out-going and like to direct people? Rather be behind the scenes working with vendors? Family Pathways’ Refuge Network Benefit, Charity Golf Classic, Sporting Clays Benefit and Bail or Jail Food Shelf Fundraiser happen spring to fall so join us for one event or all!
